Welcome to Canvey (New Roots Canvey Island programme) exists to give every resident—especially newly arrived families and ethnic minority residents—a genuine sense of belonging.
Castle Point remains one of the less ethnically diverse areas in England. While many families find housing and employment, isolation is a common struggle. People tell us they don't always know where to seek help or how to meet neighbours. We close that gap.
Rather than formal classroom lectures, we focus on practical, community-based activities. We host orientation sessions, shared meals, local tours, and women's circles to foster real friendships and community connections naturally.
This programme was built through direct conversations with local families, community leaders, and volunteers. Every activity directly responds to local feedback, continuously refined through resident surveys and planning sessions.
Welcome to Canvey is delivered by RCCG Fruitful Tabernacle Canvey Island, a trusted local organization with deep root connections across Castle Point. The church provides structural leadership, venue facilities, and volunteer management to ensure the programme runs smoothly and effectively.
All our activities are running, practical, and designed to make settling into Canvey Island easy, positive, and full of connection.
